EU greenhouse gas emissions estimated to increase in 2010, but long-term decrease expected to continue

Saturday, October 8th, 2011

The European Union remains well on track to achieve its Kyoto Protocol target for reducing greenhouse gas emissions despite a 2.4 % emissions increase in 2010, according to first estimates by the European Environment Agency (EEA). The 2010 increase follows a 7 % drop in 2009, largely due to the economic recession and growth of renewable energy generation.

Shifts in the job structure in Europe during the Great Recession

Saturday, October 8th, 2011

This report describes the impact of the ‘great recession’ on employment and the job structure in the EU27. It finds that despite a net loss of over five million jobs between 2008–2010, employment continued to grow in top-paying jobs, largely in knowledge-intensive services and business services. Meanwhile, sharp losses in medium-paying jobs in construction and manufacturing led to a shrinking of employment in the middle of the wage spectrum. More jobs were lost to men than to women and employment levels of older workers grew while those of core-age and, in particular, younger workers declined. Part-time work expanded across the wage spectrum while levels of temporary employment began to recover quickly from 2009 onwards after having borne the brunt of the early-recession job losses. An executive summary is available.

Comment on Who does this dickhead Salmond think he is.. by raymond jones

about 4 years ago in my anger at being a E.U. slave like all Britons including Salmond.
I looked around for who was most likely to set Britons free. It was Alex. So I made it known what I thought his strategy should be.Which was to take Scotland out of Europe
and set her free, this would peeve England into wanting the same, and not getting it.
So, my suggestion was then to start a Anglo Scottish Nationalist party. offering his new found freedom to the English, I think he would have been joined by at least Northern England who,s new found freedom would have enticed the rest of England, It would have been better than the E.U. But now I see that he is just another left wing E.U. Slave. And he is pretending to free Scotland but he can not because he cant, So my stand now is with UKIP but it could have been him.
