These Regulations, which come into force on 30th July 2012, amend the Jurors’ Allowances Regulations 1978 (SI 1978/1579) to prescribe a condition for payment of such allowances. The amendments provide that a juror will not receive payments pursuant to section 19 of the Juries Act 1974 (c. 23) unless a claim is made within 12 months of the conclusion of jury service. This change does not apply to any person summoned to serve as a juror on or before the coming into force of these Regulations i.e. 30th July 2012.
