‘BEhavE conference’, Helsinki, Finland

Event date:
2012-09-24 An event entitled ‘BEhavE conference’ will take place from 20 to 21 September 2012 in Helsinki, Finland.

Like all economic problems, energy efficiency is a matter of balance between costs and benefits. For the individual energy user, this involves weighing the higher initial cost of purchasing energy-efficient products against the expected benefits of future cost savings when operating the products, among other considerations. Researchers in social sciences have been and are still exploring the drivers of individual behaviour and propose different models of decision-making that can turn a passive energy consumer into an active decision maker.

The conference will bring together behaviour and consumption researchers, along with companies and authorities promoting energy efficiency. Session topics will include:
- energy use in buildings;
- technology and behaviour;
- consumer behaviour;
- behaviour in and of organisations;
- transport;
- feedback and metering;
- social context of energy;
- choosing specific instruments (e.g. advice, audits);
- monitoring and evaluation
