First International Workshop on Sentiment Discovery from Affective Data, Bristol, United Kingdom
2012-09-24 The First International Workshop on Sentiment Discovery from Affective Data will take place from 24 to 28 September 2012 in Bristol, United Kingdom.
The very nature of social media encourages internet users to express themselves. From a research point of view, this means that there are masses of affective data related to peoples’ emotions, sentiments and opinions that are being generated every day.
Knowledge discovery from such data is an emerging area of research, with a potential number of applications of paramount importance to business organisations, individual users and governments. Data mining and machine learning techniques are used to discover knowledge from various types of affective data such as ratings, text or browsing data.
Although research in this area has grown considerably in the recent years, knowledge discovery from affective data is just beginning. There are, for example, a significant number of open issues and challenges which often requires interdisciplinary approaches.
This workshop will bring together researchers and stakeholders to discuss ongoing work, challenges and the future.
