Article – MEPs back Tunisia’s transition to democracy
The revolutionaries may have laid down their arms but the Arab Spring is far from over. The countries involved are now going through a crucial period of political, economic and social transition. When Hamadi Jebali, head of the Tunisian government, met the EP's foreign affairs committee on 2 October, members assured him that the Parliament would do everything to support the democratisation process in his country. That promise was also confirmed by EP president Martin Schulz later that same day.
