Austrian chancellor Werner Faymann stressed the importance of solidarity in times of crisis during a debate on the future of the European Union with MEPs on Tuesday. “Only with social cohesion we can continue our peaceful development,” he said. He called on everyone to fight youth unemployment and spoke in favour of the redemption fund and the shared management of debt. He received a warm welcome from Parliament’s main political groups.
