Welcome to the Community Plant Variety Office Website

This office is an European Union agency, which manages a system of plant variety rights covering the 27 member States.

Involvement of external experts in DUS testing

The Administrative Council of the Community Plant Variety Office approved the involvement of external experts in the conduct of technical examinations (DUS tests) under the condition that certain requirements in respect of the set up of such system are fulfilled.

The CPVO online filing system is now available.

This new service  enables users to apply for a Community plant variety right online. For the time being this option is only available in English, but the CPVO will make this possibility also available in Dutch, German and French before the end of the year.
The CPVO will rapidly extend the offer to other species. Please be aware that paper applications remain of course possible.
